Academic Standards for Undergraduates in Materials Science and Engineering

An undergraduate student in Materials Science and Engineering must be registered for a minimum of 12 credit hours throughout each term. Good Standing: To be in good standing each term, an undergraduate materials science and engineering student must: a) have at least a C- or above in at least 12 credit hours per semester; b) have a grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.0 each semester; c) have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.3; d) at most over all semesters, one grade as low as C- in the Major required courses, materials electives, materials applications electives, and the outside technical elective ; e) no F grades; and f) make satisfactory progress toward the requirements for graduation. Any student not in Good Standing at the end of a semester is subject to review by the Academic Advising Committee, which consists of the MSE academic advisors and the DUS. Possible academic actions that can be issued by the Committee before the beginning of the subsequent semester include Warning, Required Leave of Absence for a period specified by the Committee; and Required Withdrawal.
