Congratulations to Maya on receiving The Dolores Zohrab Liebmann Fellowship which supports graduate students in the humanities, social sciences or natural sciences. Mrs. Liebmann was the daughter of Krikor Zohrab, a prominent Armenian intellectual, writer and statesman. She supported students and educational and charitable organizations during her lifetime.
Maya's research seeks to understand how simple interactions between building blocks — such as atoms, nanoparticles, or colloids — lead to the emergent formation of different crystal structures. Using simulations, we assemble structures of varying complexities and study their crystallization via machine learning techniques. Our goal is to better understand generalizable growth mechanisms in crystal structures for the design and growth of new materials.
