Prof. Lara Estroff Awarded Excellence in Teaching

Prof. Lara Estroff

Prof. Lara Estroff has been selected as one of the College of Engineering’s outstanding teachers and will be recognized this fall as the winner of the Mr. and Mrs. Richard F. Tucker ‘50 Excellence in Teaching Award, the highest award for teaching in the College. Prof. Estroff has a compiled a record of sustained excellence as an instructor that is grounded in her dedication and willingness to bring innovative approaches to her classes. As a result she has inspired enormous enthusiasm among our undergraduates. She has also demonstrated an abiding commitment to mentoring and advising: she has served as the research advisor for 30 undergraduates in her lab in the past 10 years, of whom 19 completed the extended research needed for a Senior Thesis. Many of these received department recognition for the quality of their work, reflecting the quality of her guidance. Prof. Estroff has also served as Faculty Advisor for the organization “Women in Materials Science and Engineering” since 2007.
